Week of April 1st

My dear community members,

Our CSA program isn’t just an amazing farm box loaded with freshly picked, local organic fruits and veggies; it’s a movement. It’s tuning into the earth and the seasons. It’s connecting with the community over recipes and stories (even if it’s only through zoom, social media and online for the foreseeable future). It’s giving back to schools and supporting the workers that live in our neighborhoods. Thanks for being a part of what we are doing. We would LOVE to see what you are cooking. Please tag us on Instagram @somethinggoodorganics #somethinggoodorganics and we’ll add it to our story to share and inspire.

A few reminders. Please break down your box. Whether you are picking up or receiving delivery, it just helps us so much time wise. Please be careful not to rip the box when you are collapsing it. We cannot use the boxes if they are ripped. Also our online CSA store closes on Saturday at midnight. This helps us have enough time to plan and order everything. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.(was misspelled)

We welcome strawberries and spring onions into our boxes this week as a clear signal that spring’s bounty is on its way! We also welcome Wishbone Bone broth into our CSA store. I’ve been using this bone broth for over half a year for cooking and sipping and I’m so happy to offer it to you. Locally made with certified organic ingredients, you can include a jar of frozen broth into your box beginning next week.

Week of March 25th

Hello dear community members,

As you can imagine, our little CSA business has tripled in the past two weeks. Providing the freshest, local organic produce to you keeps my heart full. We our doing our best to make sure every order is filled as we adapt to logistical and staffing challenges. Please note that I am packing and delivering on Wednesdays, so won’t be available to answer questions that day. I come straight home to my two little boys, a bunch of brand new baby chicks and wake up to another round of deliveries on Thursday. I will respond as soon as I am able.

In response to the overwhelming home delivery requests which we are unable to accommodate, we are thrilled to offer a new pick-up site at Third Window Brewing Co. on the Eastside. They are offering curb side delivery from their fridge, as well as their own craft beer.

Lastly, please make sure to collapse your boxes whether you are coming to the farm, receiving home delivery or picking up at one of our locations. It helps us expedite, plus they are easier to store! If you’re unsure of how to flatten your box, see our Instagram video story @somethinggoodorganics.

Stay healthy and safe!

Week of March 18th – The Farmacy

My thoughts are definitely scattered so I hope I cover everything in this post. We are trying our best to accommodate the overwhelming support for the farm and our CSA program and we are so glad to have this program in place during these especially difficult times. The rain on top of everything else has made things super challenging for us so substitutions may occur without warning.
If you’ve placed an order through our CSA store, substitutions may occur without warning. Example: you ordered a Romaine Lettuce and we substitute Red Leaf Lettuce. If you do not see something that you ordered, we will not charge your account. I am short on employees, taking care of a brand new flock of chickens (egg security for our CSA program) and I have two little kids at home so I am a bit short on time and sleep. Regardless – this is what we love to do and will try our hardest to get it done. Please keep in contact if you have questions/concerns and know that we will always take care of you even if we don’t respond immediately.
It’s important to break down your boxes and stack them neatly outside your house to be picked up or at your pickup location. Schools aren’t in session and we want to be extra respectful while no one is there to attend. And it helps us move quicker and get the deliveries out to everyone in a timely manner.
If you are picking up at a certain location please keep your CSA box there. It helps the CSA program to have centralized drop off points to be able to serve the whole community. At this point in time we are still delivering to ALL locations including our schools which provide a great open environment to grab your food.
People have expressed concerns about washing vegetables. It’s nice to know that the veggies from our CSA program have had less hands touching them as a result of getting them straight from the farm. You can always use a solution of vinegar, lemon and oregano oil for cleaning. I’d advise doing research on the internet to make sure you are getting the outcome you want. I’d stick with food based options to help sanitize if you choose to.
Subscribing to your local farm is having your own personal Farmacy in your fridge. Eating mainly fruits and vegetables and minimizing things that create inflammation in your body is going to help us all stay healthy. Consider a juicer. We are truly in this together and it’s important that we take this time to reconnect to this earth, our families, our community and ourselves. Sending tons of love and health from all of us here at the farm.
