Week of December 2
My dear Community,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and found a moment to relax and recharge. Can you believe it’s already December? With just three weeks of boxes left until we take a two week holiday break, we’re looking forward to this time so we can move forward refreshed and ready to serve you in the new year.
We’re thrilled to highlight a very special new product in the CSA store: honey from our very own Danielle! In addition to helping pack your CSA boxes, Danielle runs hives at her home and teaches about bees in Isla Vista. Her raw, unfiltered honey has a delightful wildflower-esque flavor, capturing the essence of the blooms her bees visit. She’s also created beautiful gift boxes with candles made from locally harvested wax, chapstick, and small jars of honey. These make perfect gifts and are available now.
Cauliflower is making its debut in the boxes and store this week! Whether you’re roasting, mashing, or ricing it, it’s a versatile and delicious addition to winter meals. We also have tart-sweet Granny Smith apples—perfect for baking or enjoying fresh. If you’re used to store-bought, these farm-fresh apples are a real treat!
As you think about gifting this holiday season, we hope you’ll consider the gift of health with a Something Good box or subscription. Our boxes of fresh, organic produce are a thoughtful and nourishing way to show you care while supporting local farming.
If you love supporting local, don’t forget about Get Hooked Seafood! Founded in 2018 by a marine ecologist and a fisherwoman, this Community Supported Fishery delivers fresh, sustainable seafood from our local waters. Their selection includes halibut, ahi tuna, shrimp, oysters, and more, along with pre-marinated fillets, smoked fish, and ceviche. With convenient pickup sites and home delivery options, it’s a perfect complement to your CSA produce.
Thank you for being part of our CSA community. We’re so grateful for your support and can’t wait to bring you more seasonal goodness as we close out the year.
Be good to each other.
Carolyn
P.S. Our carrots are a bit too small to pick for the shares. We’ll have them in the large shares and you’re welcome to add some on in our store. Hopefully they’ll be back next week.
